The Remembrance Sunday 2024 Parade and Service will be held in Whitwell on Sunday 10 November 2024. Road Closures will be in place - see attached map of closures to help you plan your morning and use alternative routes if required, emergency vehicles excluded.

Published: 7 October 2024

The Parade will commence from Bakestone Moor down into The Square for a service around the War Memorial at 11.00 am

Remembrance Sunday is used to remember all the people who have died in wars – not just World War One. This includes the Second World War, the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq

Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms. To this day we mark Armistice Day around the United Kingdom with a Two Minute Silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.
